Try as we might, we just can’t help falling back to the Mountain Pale when we want to drink something ourselves that is crisp and chuggable, but not so heavy on the palate that we can’t share a couple of pints as a team together after a long week slogging away at the brewery. The style that was first introduced to us in 2020 by US craft beer deity Doug Odell, this beer packs the water profile of an East Coast beer, but with the malt bill of a Westie, with a hop charge situated somewhere in the middle with new and old school varieties. A “No-Coast” beer as we’ve daubed it, collects the best qualities we love of both styles and smashes them together for a pale ale hopped with Citra, Comet and Simcoe to create a juicy, fruit forward experience but with a consistent and moreish bitterness to smash pints of.
