Often referred to as "steam beer" and made famous by San Francisco's Anchor Brewing Company, a California Common is a hybrid in that it is brewed from lager yeast but fermented at ale fermentation temperatures. Pale golden in colour and moderately bitter, this is a lightly fruity beer with a firm, grainy maltiness and interesting toasty and caramel flavours. UK-grown Jester hops as a whirlpool addition impart aromas of citrus and tropical fruits.
